Pamela at the Gardens by the Bay 5th year Anniversary show

Aerial Arts Collective (AAC) all started from an aerialist’s desire to have her own space to practice, to explore and create, and to share that passion to fly with others.

Our vision is to provide a safe space for aerial arts training, providing opportunities to aerialists of all levels to teach, learn, and develop their art creatively.

AAC has 8 aerial points ranging from 7.4 - 8 metres high, all certified and load tested to hold 1 tonne individually. The studio is fully equipped with 3 types of aerial apparatus to start with - hammocks, silks and hoop/lyra, thick safety crash mats to cover each point, and all sorts of equipment such as yoga mats, rollers, blocks, and massage balls for students’ use. Classes are catered to all interested - from complete beginners all the way to aspiring professionals.

The studio is founded and run by Pamela, who started aerial silks as a hobby eight years ago in 2015, and is now an aerial silks instructor and performer. She has performed at various corporate and public events such as Gardens by the Bay 5th year Anniversary show and Esplanade Flipside Festival - Aerial Open Stage 2019 & 2021.

Before aerial, Pamela has also coached kids in gymnastics and field hockey, and also was a certified Sport Climber Level 1 instructor. She has always been passionate about sharing and teaching the sports and activities she engages in safely, with aerial arts being no different. You can connect with her here on Instagram or LinkedIn.

  • Let’s give it up for our founder, head instructor, studio manager, marketing and admin all-in-one #Bossbabe! Pamela’s passion for aerial arts first began in 2015. She fell deeply in love with aerial arts and became an instructor in 2018. Pamela felt that she wanted to improve herself as an instructor and this motivated her to complete a teacher training course in 2021. Throughout her journey, Pamela has performed several times, such as for AOS in 2019 and 2021!

Pamela’s dedication to her craft is inspiring and she is heartened to share her knowledge with her students. With years of teaching and performing aerial silks experience under her belt, you can trust that Pamela can break down intricate details when it comes to shapes, transitions and flows. While aerial arts can be physically demanding, she can confidently assure that you will get to learn in a fun, engaging and most importantly safe manner here at AAC.

Fun fact: Pamela was a kids’ gymnastics coach, sports climbing instructor and hockey coach before she began her aerial journey.

  • Avid pole and aerial enthusiast, Leron is also trained in dance and was also varsity cheerleader during her university days. She saw dance and fitness as an enjoyable way to help her keep healthy and fit! Eventually, her passion for dance led her to further explore the world of aerial arts. She was first introduced to pole and subsequently discovered aerial hoop and aerial silks.

Her discipline and hardwork spurred her on to become an aerial arts instructor in 2012. She also has had plenty of opportunities to perform. Throughout her journey, Leron has explored many other apparatus including aerial cube and trapeze. You bet that she is someone who possesses extensive vocabulary for each aerial apparatus!

Fun fact: When asked if she had a ‘pet’ apparatus, Leron’s reply was “Hoop… but actually…I love Pole, Silks, Hammock, Trapeze, Cube, Moon, Heart, Aerial pole…so basically everything?”

  • Jayne learnt ballet at the age of 3. Her love for dance grew and she found herself exploring other genres such as contemporary, jazz, hip hop and chinese dance. Growing up, Jayne has participated in numerous competitions and performances. Her passion for dance prompted her to search for other art forms. Jayne discovered the world of aerial arts first with aerial hammock. She found that doing inversions on the hammock served as great therapy for her back decompression. She fell in love with hammock when she realised how creative she could be with aerial hammock. For the same reason, Jayne found herself drawn to aerial silk as well!

Jayne enjoys sharing her passion for aerial hammock and dance through teaching. She seeks to help her students feel comfortable and confident in the air.

Fun fact: Jayne is known for her endless love for pink and her dogs, Cookie and Bailey

  • Yes she is, both in name and attitude! Sassy learnt ballet when she was a child and grew up to love dancing! She was a freelance choreographer . She was first introduced to aerial arts in 2018 when she happened to see a performance by aerialists. Their skills inspired her and she was immediately motivated to learn aerial arts. Given that she enjoys dancing, creating choreographies and expressing herself through music, she thought of taking her dance knowledge to the next level (literally) through aerial arts.

Sassy loves all things aerial - be it pole, hoop, silks and her greatest love of all, hammock! She enjoys executing combos while flowing to music and looks forward to sharing her passion and experience for hammock with everyone

Fun fact: She received her teacher training certificate for hoop but fell deeply in love with Hammock.

  • Alethea previously trained as a rhythmic and trampoline gymnast. She took her first foray into the aerial arts on the hoop, and subsequently studied straps under teacher and mentor, Peter. Aerial straps is currently her primary apparatus of choice. She is currently coached by École Nationale de Cirque instructor Francisco Álverez.

The aerial art form continues to hold great fascination for Alethea not just for the physical artistry which it demands, but the intellectual appreciation and understanding required for technique, movement mechanics, and the analysis of skills and their components. Remembering how impossible everything felt when she first started, she finds it most fulfilling when she redirects her students’ approaches to any challenging skill from a “I can’t do that” into an “I can’t do that yet”.

To Alethea, the aerial apparatus is not simply a mechanical tool for the regurgitation of tricks and poses; it is an extension of the body. This mentality forms the bedrock of her choreographic practice and movement experimentation, which she hopes to convey and share in her workshops/classes with AAC.

As an aspiring retiree, she views teaching as the first step and hopes to see others carry things further and do things better than she will.

  • Lyrical and contemporary dancer and aerialist, Serjean has been practicing aerial silks since 2016. With her flexibility and dance background, expect some flowy choreographies from her! She may be the youngest member on our team, but doesn’t mean the least experienced!

  • Livia has always been fascinated by heights. In fact, she claims that she was initially drawn to aerial silks just because it was the tallest apparatus in the room! Livia picked up aerial silks in 2017 and has not looked back since. Her passion for aerial silks has motivated her to complete the level 1 silks teacher training by Paper Doll Militia in 2021 to kickstart her instructor journey. A huge roller coaster junkie, it is no surprise that Livia absolutely L-O-V-E-S big silks drops as they give her huge adrenaline rushes!

Prior to learning aerial silks, Livia described herself to be “just a normal human with zero dance/gymnastics/climbing background.” From being unable to do one climb, Livia can now execute jaw-dropping sequences flawlessly. She wishes to highlight to her students that anyone can pick up aerial silks and surprise themselves by developing both strength and flexibility in an enjoyable and exciting manner.

Fun fact: To get Livia on to another apparatus, you can entice her by adding a drop to the sequence. She claims “ I guess one way to get me to touch other apparatus is to teach me a drop and I guarantee I will zoom over immediately 😂”
